As above really. My 1D has a problem, with the apature no longer working, looking like an electronics fault and called Canon UK to get it fixed the passed it on to those guys (don't they do any repairs inhouse anymore?). I'm in SE England, so why they have told me to send it to Glasgow is a mystery to me....

AJ Johnstone are excellent at repairs. My only experience of them is having compact digital cameras repaired.

I've not heard anything bad about them and all of the staff appear to be very knowledgable.

Just an update. I sent a body and lens to AJ Johnstone, but didn't use them because of prices that they wanted to charge for the work IMHO was taking the mick.
I did ask for ball park estimate with me giving a description of the fault, which they didn't want to do. Anyhow, I got them to send it back to me which they where a bit annoyed about by the tone of the guy on the phone, and my camera came back in box full of Styrofoam and no plastic bag so all the shavings it had got into the nooks and crevices of the camera.... thanks.

Ended up calling Fixation in London about it, gave me an estimate over the phone after talking to one of the techs, which was spot on. Only addition was the lens needed extra work than expected as the mount was loose, which was fair enough.

It ended up being half the price, and when I asked if they could get the work done in time for the weekend (5 working days), they turned it around within 2 days - asking nicely and a pro body probably did the trick.
