Something a little different for the photography enthusiasts:

Recently I have had a little bit of extra spare time on my hands and managed to look at some other photographers work.

I stumbled across some pictures in a book that were taken on Infrared Film. I remembered playing around with some B&W Infrared film myself about 20 years ago and wondered if the same results could be achieved with a modern digital camera.

After a bit of research and a lot of messing about, I have created this picture of Saxon Mill, recording only the infrared light.

The reflected infrared light works very differently to how normal visible light would, because it travels on a different wavelength. This created all sorts of problems from working out the exposure and the correct point of focus.

I hope you like the picture and I look forward to re-shooting it in the summer when there is more foliage on the trees to increase the ghost white affect in the greenery across the whole picture.

Let me know what you think.

Nice work. IR does give a very ghostly effect on many images.

Which camera did you use? Only a lot of cameras have an infrared blocker filter in front of the sensor to prevent IR from screwing up the picture.
