Hubby and I are off on our hols very soon and I have just realised we only have one cable release between us. Our current one was cheap and picked up from ebay. We don't have time to do that this time.

I've seen this Hahnel on the Jessops website. Any options?

TIA.

I went for the Hahnel wireless one rather than a cable. It's not a huge amount more expensive and gives more flexibility than the cable (eg taking piccies of birds etc outside while you're inside etc) Might be worth you looking at (assuming both your cameras are Canons). Obviously cheaper places than Jessops.

I did look briefly at the wireless option... might be good as we do both use Canon.

Self-timer will be fine in most situations, but we are hoping to get some star trails. I have read that the best way is to take multiple 30-sec exposures over 1 hour or so, by shooting on continuous and locking down the cable release, and then combine them. Can't really do that with the cable release.

Thanks for the input smile

If you fancy the Hannel one - the EOS magazine turned up today - it's £5 cheaper with them.. Here

You could try something like this Link?

I've got a coule of these off ebay and they work fine - although not quite the 100m range they state. The led's on the reciever are bright enough to show what is happening at the camera end of things which is beneficial (focus/image taken).

This place works out cheaper for the Hahnel shutter release. http://www.premier-ink.co.uk/photographic/shutter-...

I use one on my D90 and they're fine. I also have a wireless one (picked up cheap at Focus) and have no problems either. It did take a little while to get used to using it though.
