As some of you know I have an Internet background and so am used to just googling for the cheapest service or product and purchasing it 'anonomously'.

However, after a bit of digging around here it seemed lots of people had used Tim @ Fluid Images' service and were very pleased with the level of "personal" service. Perhaps somewhat surprising was after a bit of research Tim was far cheaper than many services on offer, and yet the specification seemed to suggest something more.

So, in for a penny I sent off for 4xA2 prints on a Saturday (as you do in this Internet age) of 4 old B&W photos of Les Deux Alpes that I wanted with the apartment, with a note saying that if they could be done in the next two days I would be delighted as I was going down. I also mentioned that as I worked near Battersea I could pick them up.

Bugger me if I didn't get a call back in a few hours, and about three times afterwards, from Tim himself asking lots of questions about how I wanted them framed, offering suggestions and his experience and saying that despite him being very busy I could pick them up the day before I left for the apartment, and that he would automatically remove the carriage charge for me doing so.

So, the results? Well, far in excess of what I expected. Despite these being scans from A5 postcard sized 'n' generation prints they have come out wonderful with excellent definition and a real nice "sheen" due to the varnish.

To boot, having now met Tim, he's clearly very passionate about the service and has an excellent artist eye.

I can't really recommend his services enough.

Good stuff!

So if you'd just been Googling for the cheapest as per usual, and Tim happened to cost 50p than a rival, you'd never have found him... there's a moral there somewhere!

It's worse than that.... One thing is that Tim's website (which I'm sure will be related to his site being all flash) doesn't appear anywhere in Google for "canvas printing".

Although I have to admit searching the same on here means he is very often mentioned, and sometimes Google doesn't actually know everything biggrin

I had a massive (3m x 1m) canvas print done by the cheapest company I could find - and some smaller ones done by Tim. Tim's were better by far!

Tim provides an excellent service and takes care to 'talk' to you to ensure that everything is done to meet your requirement. I think it is an old-fashioned concept called customer service!

I had two odd sized canvases made up and they are superb.

I had great service from him for my dad's Christmas prezzie. Top service and he tweaked the image which made a big difference. My dad loves it and it's great value and quality.

He did one for a friend of mine from a picture I took of his Elise.

The finished product looked better than the original photo. bd.
