Spent the afternoon at Silverstone this afternoon. Get home and all my pics are covered in dust specs.

Took this pic of white paper with 2 seperate lenses and they all still show.

Have tried locking the mirror up and using a blower but no joy.

Sensor does look like there is some imperfections on it, but I dont have a clue how to clean it from here.

Whats the best thing to do please ?

That ain't normal sensor dust - that shows up as small circular 'blobs'. I've never seen anything like that on my cameras, they look like tiny hairs and are very defined, did you take that shot on an extremely small aperture?

Oh dear!

I don't suppose your using a blower with a brush that has small soft hairs on do you? If so they could be coming off? Other than that i have no idea!

Surprised that the rocket blower isn't moving what appears to be strands of fibre but my experience of rocket blowers is that they just move the dust around and, when I've used them, often make matters worse. My preference is for the little spatula things with tissue wrapped over them that you drip fluid onto like these although the price of those is completely bonkers - they're just dust-free swabs. I notice Calumet do an interesting sticky pad thing which looks promising here but I've not tried it.

Random question - do you have a cat at home?

I had a friend back in Scotland show me almost an identical image and we ended up putting it down to being tiny little thin hairs from his other halfs cat that were around the house when he was changing lenses etc.

Really lost now.

Bought a sensor cleaning kit with swabs and Eclipse E2 fluid.

Despite using 3 new swabs, the outcome is exactly the same confused

Is it possible this is between the sensor screen and sensor itself ?

What do I do now ?

Px is looking very likely right now.......

Have you cleaned the outside of the mirror? You need to get inside I think.

And I'll add a word of warning, the last time I tried to do that I ended up with a new camera. Send it off for a proper clean, shouldnt cost more than £30'ish

I broke mine, just checking you're not about to do the same!

What have you cleaned so far? Outside of the mirror, or mirror up and cleaned the sensor behind it?

i was using a floor standing hallogen light when i cleaned mine, had got rid of most of the dust when i caught my head on the light (that hurt just a little!) and accidently spat on the sensor - ended up with a semi circle i could not remove.

got it off in the end with vodka and a cotton-bud

vodka was some form of grain based or something, and the cotton bud was one that came in a cleaning kit from jessops, very different from the type you get from boots etc, no visible fibres sticking out from it
