Critical issue this. Bought some gels to go on me speedlight - do I put the loop on the speedlight and hooks on the gel or the other way round?

I know it shouldn't make much difference (and common sense would suggest putting the loop on the gun), but if I go and buy a lastolite kit in the future and its the other way round the world might just end. Is there an industry standard?

These things can keep you awake at night, they really can.

Hooks on the gel, loops on the speedlight then you can attach other bits such as card section deflectors/reflectors or snoots without your speedlight sticking to your jumper!!!! wink

YB

If I recall it's discussed on here, somewhere!

I've just bought a bunch of gels to "play around" with on my Speedlights. The Flash Centre has the Lumiquest Cinch Strap for holding gels, but it's nearly £8.00! I'm going to try a simple double-sided velcro strip first.

Would be interested to see some samples of your shots using the gels. I wanted to use them for coloured effects on the background, with the key light "naked".

Here are some useful velcro tips for gels. I didn't even know what gels were until now smile
