Afternoon all,

It's my birthday in a few weeks and the parents in their good nature have decided to buy me a camera! I'm looking for something like the Canon Ixus in terms of size, looking for about 6MP, and around £150.

The floor is yours!

I just bought a Canon Ixus IS 85 last week, very pleased with it. Was just over £140 from Argos.

Still like my little Lumix TZ4 that I bought on a whim as a glovebox and walkabout one for when I didnt want to take the SLR and associated kit. Some nice features on it, and the scene modes work quite well if thats your thing

Second that - bought one as a gift for my Dad and its been faultless. The 10x optical is very handy too.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, like the look of the Ixus suggested above. Any amazing cameras out there that are oft overlooked?

I've also go an Ixus (85 I think?). Been very happy with the results. Used to have a Sony cybershot and it was nowhere near as good.

Not a scientific review I know, but I'd stick to the brands that make cameras (ie Canon, Pentax, Nikon, Leica etc).

Also, look at dpreview.com

Thirded, the Lumix ones are superb cameras. I have a TZ3, and the zoom, lens, and the sturdyness of it is really fantastic for a little snappy camers.

got it as a replacement last year ?

excellent low light camera, took me a while to get the range sorted and at £120 for 12 mb camera, u can downgrade the shots, but why bother

not waterproof !

a bit out of your price range but I bought one of these back before Xmas and it takes brilliant pics even with an idiot behind the camera!

and it shoots full motion video in HD which is a bonus.

just one of the pics I took with the Ixus 980 whilst out on a pontoon boat in Florida a couple of weeks back.

Interesting that the spec on your link gives highest resolution for video as 640 x 480, 30fps.

One advantage of Canon cameras is most can have their firmware enhance with CHDK
