Whats that technique in PS...

I want to add an object to an existing image and have it appear to be breaking through a mirror grabbing out at someone. I have 2 images, one is a scene and the other is going to be layered into a mirror

I remember seeing a technique around this in PS which I believe was also used on a lot of magazine covers last year

Anyone have any suggestions?

Kind of....

I think I might just need a layer mask? My OnOne software had a fit at it so I was looking at other ways to add a reflection in the mirror using another image, but have it coming over the edges

As an example of what I'm trying to do I've done a dirty copy and paste of one into another.
