Thanks for all of the suggestions in my thread a few weeks ago.

We have just got back from a wonderful 4 night stay in Cornwall. What a fantastic place - and the weather gods were with us as well! The first cloud we saw was this morning when we were driving back through Devon!

We managed to take in...

Veryan (easily - because we stayed there)
St Michaels Mount
Lands End (we weren't expecting much, but it was a fantastic place - thanks the the RN)
The Lizard
St Mawes and the coastal fort
The lost gardens of Heligan
Bedruthan steps (vertigo tastic)
Lanhydrock House and Gardens
Plymouth Marine Aquarium
Padstein... sorry - PadSTOW

We got chatting to an amazing old dude in Padstow. He came and asked me about my camera and being about 85 I said it was just a nikon. Apparently he has a D300 and has been taking photos since 1945 when he pinched his first camera from an Italian in WW2. He gave up fishing when he was 75, due to a motorbike accident hurting his leg! Top chap.

I bought a set of Cokin filters before we left which I think helped a lot. I say 'think' because I'm not sure about the polorizer as some of the skys are near back in places. They were very deep blue, but not quite as deep! Its an effect I'm not sure of - at the moment.

Here are some tasters...

ETA - I haven't had time to do anything other than an odd crop.

St Michael's Mount

Land's End - Damn RN ruining a good photo wink

Yeah some nice pics in there, I particularly like the one with St Michael's Mount the furthest away from the low angle. Nice perspective and good detail in the path drawing the eye.

I never noticed the beach shots when I looked this morning (confused) - what beach is it?

Thanks for the kind comments. Any tips/criticisms also appreciated!

The beach is just somewhere which we drove past on the road from Padstow to Newquay. It looked amazing so I swung the car around and we had half an hour there. I'll dig out the map and get the village name.

Here are a couple more I quite like:

That beach again..

Jet trails

Padstow Harbour - WW2 Pillbox

Shark! (I know its not a technically great photo. but it was dark and these things move quickly - no flash allowed either!)

Skills!

Cornwall is a great place to photograph. I very briefly met a chap on the Lizard who was living in a Defender with solar panels on the roof and travelling around the area taking photos!

What camera were you using btw?

Checking google maps it was! Lovely beach, although the satellite view shows it somewhat more crowded.
