Slide Scanner Recommendations

[BryanR]

My mother has decided she wants to transfer her total slide collection onto her computer, this consists of around 5500 slides!

I'm after recommendations for a slide scanner, as I know nothing about these. Speed of scan is not really an issue, but quality is. It also needs to be fairly easy to use to avoid the phonecalls I know I'm going to get when she starts.

I'd like to keep the budget reasonable, so no £5000 total professional monsters please.

I have a Canon Lide 600f - currently on offer at ebuyer - as it's end of life. Comes with a film scanner attachment.

there is only one unit to seriously consider for the amateur general use "Braun Slide Scan 4000 bulk scanner", about Euro 1000. For pro use, sky is the limit
forget about the other units, you will regret it
