This looked very tempting, however after a couple of emails I walked away... especially after 'her' name changed spelling on the second mail.

Ebay item

mails....

Hello,

Thank you for the email. There is no kind of damage and the lenses still have 1 year warranty left. The buy it now price is £600 including delivery anywhere in UK.I think this is a low price but i need cash for a family emergency. If you want to buy this item email me back with your full name and address to start the official procedure trough eBay. They will send you a notification with ALL the info regarding delivery, purchase protection and refund policy .
Will wait to hear from you.

Elizabeth

The item is located in birmingham, West Midlands. As you can see there is no pick-up option so if you are not happy with shipping you may start looking to buy from someone else . I have already got a few serious offers so don't bother .

regards,
Elisabeth.

Well, you don't have to e-mail anyone your full details to bid or buy anything on e-bay - at least not directly - so I'd avoid like the plague, yes!

Dodgy. No collection no deal on something expensive as far as I'm concerned, even if you still get them to ship it if you win. By refusing collection point blank it screams scam to me. They could be legit but I wouldn't be risking my money on it.

Someone should email the seller saying you are from Birmingham and ask where the seller is based (it doesn't say on the ad). If she/he changes the location, then it's well dodgy. wink

I am sure a lot of us would be tempted by the price, which is why I posted it here for info. As I said I have walked away and tempted to report it to ebay.

Cheers,
Jon

Just the price would put me off...
Family emergency or not, that's a crazy price! Even if it was £800 it'd still be scarily cheap! nono
Oh and as others have said, why would you not want collection!?

Remember until the last few months of price increases you could get a 70-200IS for around a grand (grey market via ebay digital rev etc)
...so selling for 50-60% might have seemed the right price. most stuff on the ebay sells for about 50%

I reckon mine only worth 150 after 7+ years of write down....not that I'm selling Its still looks and performs like new. crackin bit of glass

then again beware, lots of scsm scum on the bay of evil.....try and pick it up in person
