Hi all wavey

I'd like to get a bullet cam to mount on my car. Using the PH search function and other enquiries have lead me to the following suppliers, all of which seem highly recommended....

http://www.4kam.com/index.htm
http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk

Choosing a camera seems to be pretty easy but I'm struggling with the recorder.

A conventional video cam with an AV input would mean it could also be used outside of the car for other stuff but they are harder to find now (according to the guys at Dogcam the tax on new ones with AV in has been increased so they are not so common as they used to be, although they do crop up on ebay).

Ideally I'd like the footage to be viewable on a TV at reasonable quality, not just on a PC, but I'm aware that to get a high enough resolution for the TV can get very expensive!! I've seen these and wondered if anyone had any experience of them?

Any views on the above, or alternatives, will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

I have the 4kam DV1 box and have used it for incar footage on a few rally events. Its done pretty well, but on the last event started to play up - Not showing saved videos, or cutting off mid event. Might just be because its only cable-tied in, in a bumpy rally car.

Sorry to hear you're having problems Alex frown Mine will only be used on the road so will not get that much "abuse" but that's worth knowing.

Anyone else.....?

Not much in the way of advice regarding recording equipment, but a big thumbs up for RF concepts - their service is first class and have helped us out of a hole whilst on european jobs.

I've got an Archos 604 wifi, which has a 30gb HDD, and they have a bullet camera you can buy as an extra. To be honest, the quality isn't as good as the ones you've shown there, but still pretty good. Even when you see the footage on Top Gear/Fifth Gear taken with bullet cams you can see the lack in quality.

Unfortunately i don't have any of my own video's to share, but there's plenty out there on youtube.

The Archos also does SO much more than just record video's too, so its worth checking out.

Have a look at the Predator VX360. although design for watersport applications these are seriously rugged machines and might be worth a look.
