I am thinking about purchasing this lens. Has anyone got any opinions on it?

I have also seen the Sigma 8mm f3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye Lens. it is a bit cheaper but looks like it still has good reviews.

anyone got either lenses

They are very different lenses really, aren't they?

The canon 15 is great, the sig 15 is cheaper and not far behind in IQ.

The sig8f3.5 is a good little lens, much sharper than old f4 version.

What do you want to do with the lens? What body do you have? (you realise the 8 will be a circular image on a FFS?)

it will be mounted to a 400d. I am looking for the circular distortion, now exchuse my ignorance of fisheyes, i really need to try before i buy but i am looking for this

rather than this

but i understand that the two images are only seperated by a bit of software or am i talking crap?

I think that if you use it on a small sensor camera you'll lose a lot of the 'wide-angleness' and 'fisheyeness'. Nikon make a 10.5mm (or something) fisheye for their small sensor cameras but Canon don't. I think there is a Sigma fisheye for small sensor cameras and Tokina or maybe Tamron make a fisheye zoom that may be good for what you want.
