The DSLR club that is !

After weeks of deliberation, research and drooling over some of the results on here of course, I bit the bullet and went out with my shopping list today.

Never having even held one (ooerrr), I had my mind set on a 450D + 18-55mm IS USM + 70-300mm IS USM lenses. All well and good, until I made the mistake and asked to try the 40D for size....

So I've just arrived home with a 40D (it just felt right), a 18-55mm IS USM lens + a Tamron 70-300mm. The Tamron was dirt cheap, probably not up to the Canon I was going to get with the 450D, but my budget was getting stretched, especially when you factor in the new bag, 4GB CF card, and UV filter I bought too.

So, give me a year or two to figure out how the bugger works and I'll get a few piccies up for C+C !

I did the same, went looking for a 450D (thinking the 40D was a little too much extra) and make the mistake of playing with it again...
That had me sold!

Just being pedantic, the 18-55 lens doesn't have a USM version afaik. That would be the 17-55. Given that the latter is £700+, the shop screwed up if they have given you one!

Funny, 'cos my 40D came with a 17-85mm USM as standard.

Yup, just checked, it's the EF-S 17-85mm IS USM lens I got ;-)

Strange that the same mob (Jessops) is selling it seperately at £459 !

Oh well, who am I to argue...
