Thought I may as well start a thread to show these since there's a few (rather than stick them in random photos). Would like opinions on the processing - I've been trying a few things in LR2 and I'm not sure if they're a waste of time.

personally i think the first three are brilliant! you can tell they are quite heavily processed but it doesn't look too over the top.

would you mind explaining what processing you did to shot 3?

I think they're all good; the special effects add to the photos without becoming their sole focus. 4 is my favourite. The only weak one IMO is 7, which looks a bit 'generic HDRey'.

Great work. I'd be happy with any of them tbh, but for me 1,2 & the B&W one stand out. B&W especially

I like them a lot but by the time I got to the last one I was getting HDR fatigue. HDR is the HP sauce of digital photography - nice now and again but not on every meal.

They aren't all HDR (as you probably noticed) wink Since moving from D200 to D700 I've noticed that there are fewer circumstances where I would use HDR, since there is just so much virtually noise-free detail hiding away in the sliders.
shot 3, erm HDR, then bring back some contrast, filters for sky and FG and I think there is split-toning there too.
I thought that 7 was one of the less extreme of the HDR shots  should I be using it more liberally then?

Agree with the above - first three look superb. The others very good technically, but look a little bit too artificial for my liking. Just personal opinion though and they're very impressive pieces of work nonetheless.

For me number 3 is difficult to look at because the colours don't look natural. I'm really into minimal processing at the moment and I love the candid B+W shot.
