Evening,

I need to buy a flash that I can use on my canon and one of our designers can use on his nikon d80. I will be using it most of the time but he will need it for the odd shot.

It would be good if we could use it on the end of a cable (or whatever the correct term is)

I was going to go for a canon speedlight 430exII, would that work on the nikon, can it work tethered?

Thanks

D

erm THINK the trigger voltage is different so may cause damage if you swap between the two systems. Certainly won't preserve the ttl flash metering on both am afraid. Hopefully someone will be a long to clarify.

That's a big no. Only thing you could do is buy a slave trigger to attach to the foot of the flash and use the on-camera flash to trigger this though you'd have to shield the on-camera flash from actually lighting the scene too. You could only use the flash on manual or auto (not TTL) if you did that.

Too much hassle and impossible to use the flash correctly. A bit like trying to fit Ford parts to a Vauxhall....

I'm sure you could use one of the new Metz flashguns, haven't got time to look. Or get some IR or radio triggers (pocketwizards) if you want to do alot of off camera work.
