Which small compact camer? (Sony DSC-T77 / Nikon S210)

After dropping our small Casio camera I now need to replace it.. Now I'm a real believer in 'the best camera you have is the one you have on you at the time' so I'm keen for it to be a small as possible so it will fit in either my pocket or my other half's handbag! With this in mind, the images it will need to capture are mainly nights out, the odd holiday and other random events like netball and rugby match snaps.

So, after some looking/using a few in the shop yesterday the two cameras that have impressed me are:

Sony DSC-T77

My preference over the two is the Sony as it is the smallest, the front over the camera is protected while not in use and it has this clever touch screen function which lets you confirm which part of the image should be sharp etc etc. However, I would be REALLY grateful to hear anyones feedback on either of the above and if there is a better camera altogether please let me know!

I would check out the recent group tests at DPReview. They thoroughly and comprehensively cover this space so should help you immensely.

In the above test you will see that they test the S210 and the Sony T700 amongst others, but the winners are the Canon IXUS SD790IS and the Panasonic DMC-FX37 - both of which are fab little cameras.
