OK, given the time of night and the day, what do I do?

camera on tripod, shutter priority, 10 sec shutter, ISO 800, matrix metering, 2 sec timer to reduce shake.

Anything look wrong there or that I've missed?

ETA: got a boggo 18-70mm lens on as I figure this means I'll catch more when zoomed out hopefully, and can crop. Not a very fast lens, but I figure with the shutter speed that won't matter.

ISO 100 or 200, your exposing something very bright!

10-30 second shutter, and use a cable release if you have one, open & close the shutter when you feel like it (i.e. when you've captured all the firework you want).

manual prefocus.

Thanks guys!

blah RobD, you are of course quite right about a low ISO, brainfade moment there!

Academic anyway as the few fireworks we had round us were quite low in the sky and obscured by the fences!

Ah well, happy new year folks!
