I got myself a G9 as i'm still learning and not quite ready(cannot afford) for a DSLR, but i want some new lenses for it.

has anyone got one with additional lenses? any recomendations? am specifically looking for a Telephoto and a Wide Angle lens, but don't want to break the bank. I've seen some on Ebay like this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
but am a bit concerned they'll be st.

I have seen some official Canon and Raynox lenses, but at £85-£150 each i can only afford 1 at the moment, is it worth getting the cheaper ones, or should i stick to more official stuff?

cheers

cheers, that answers that then, looks like i'll have to bide my time, get a Raynox telepho lens now, and a wide angle lens some time next year.

or, am i better off just selling the G9 and getting a DSLR, am i just going to waste my money on these lenses, or are they worth it?

Depends on what you want. I've had a DSLR, I knew I didn't want another. Something that fits in a coat pocket, or a daysack, is far more likely to be with me when I want it. Likewise I wanted something to take diving, and DSLR underwater housings are ludicrously expensive - plus I wanted to do video which DSLRs (except some recent ones) won't do.

I value that stuff over playing with lenses. If you do want more flexibility to have lenses that will do wide or tele and can live with the bulkiness then DSLR all the way. If you just want a bit more wide than the G9, then it might be worth looking at the G10 replacement model which does 28mm equivalent.

good advice mate, cheers. think i might stick with the G9 for now, forgot about the simplicity of it, the small(ish) size and video capability. Will probably get myself a wide angle lens for now as thats what i really want, then have a look at exchanging it for a G10, or maybe getting a DSLR aswell sometime end of next year.
