Nikon D40 & teleconverter?
Discussion
I currently have the Nikon kit lense and the 55-200 non VR. I have been looking at zooms with longer focal lengths but saw an offer at Warehouse Express for an f2.8 Sigma 70-200 which comes with a free 2x teleconverter. I thought this might be a good idea as it would give me a fast 70-200 as well as a long reach option. The lense is the 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO HSM II
I know the lense on it's own will autofocus on the D40 but am not sure if it would continue to do so with the teleconverter. Is anyone using this arrangement with a D40/D40x/D60 or do you know if it would work?

I use that lens with a 2.0tc too, but on a canon.
It'll continue to autofocus and will act as a 140-400 f5.6. it will focus, just slower.
I've got some acceptable results from the tc, its not 400mm f5.6 prime sharp by a long way but stoped down a bit to f7/8 its pretty good.
The 70-200f2.8 on its own is a cracker too.

I don't have this combo but logically it's to do with the TC's contacts and whether they pass all the information from lens to body. I'm guessing the lens has 10 contacts, so if the TC also has 10, it should work.
Warehouse Express are a helpful bunch so if you call and ask, hopefully they'll be able to put your mind at rest.
