Ok so it was quite stressful but I wouldn't mind doing it again!

The 70-200 F2.8 came in very handy indeed. The registrar wasn't keen on clicks during the actual ceremony and their was strictly no flash. In dim conditions this was a problem! I know I bang on about my age but being 17 I felt kinda stupid? Or more conspicuous/noticable than I normally would be? I dunno, I suppose time will tell. smile

Nice job Leighton, I guess you enjoyed playing with the zoom lens all day long and are now trying to work out how quick you can get one for yourself wink

wow- i think theyre some of the best wedding photos I've ever seen. seriously, thats some great work!

If i was getting married, I'd book you, based on those

I know what you mean about the age thing. Im 26, but when ive shaved, i look very young, and i often get people thinking that I dont really know what im doing, just because i look young. But i always say, act profesional, and everyone will treat you as one. its all about projecting confidence (even if your as nervous as hell!)

RE: the clicking in the ceremony. I know you can get sound blimps, that go over the camera, to deaden the sound. some photogrpahers who do behind the scenes movie photos, have them. Ive never managed to find somewhere to hire one though.

Next time you do a wedding, maybe worth hiring a top end compact (with fully manual features), to do the in ceremony stuff?

I'm not a photographer, and I can't take a decent photo for toffee, so I hope you don't mind my suggestion.

I love this picture: I know her bouquet is white/ivory, but if you could colour the flowers with the actual colour they were, I think this picture would be gorgeous (IMO)

Wow, thank you for the kind words! It was strange because i wasn't nervous? I expected to be shaking in my boots, I was only stressed by the speed of the thing, one minute you have three hours to spare, next you have to change lens for the first kiss!

Cheers, I'll look into the sound blimps! especially if im going to do more weddings

I might be talking turkey, but could you have used some fill in flash for the colour pics outdoors ?
Otherwise very good

Hmm, I tried, with and without and picked the best which happened to be without nearly every time :]

Very good effort imo. Your detail shots are very good. I think the groups outside the front of the building are a little weak, don't think you've nailed the composition as well as you have on other shots. That side, those big groups are pressure shots, everyone's looking at you to do it and ime you don't really feel like you have much time. Also some look a little soft, not sure if you were struggling on shutter speed indoors or if it's camera shake.

All in all I think you've done very well and you should be pleased.

ETA: 26 and 27 probably would have been better without the sky in the frame. I'm not a fan of spot colouring either tbh, but it seems plenty of people are so if it floats your boat, carry on.

some nice shots, really not a fan of the amateur photographer magazine zaney angles in 6,7,8,9 and selective colour is a gimick but those are just down to taste (my taste). You got some lovely cadid shots (where the angle did work)

eta I believe its still illegal to photograph the signing of the register (at least in church not sure on registry office)

thank you :]. I know what you mean about the outside shots, it ws very dusky (about 4:30 PM and very difficult! I must have had 10 minutes to do every single one, when you think you have bride and grooms mums, dads, sisters argh! makes me stressed thinking about it now.

Struggling on shutter speed, oh and noise reduction makes em soft.

Amateur photographer magazine zaney angle, blimey! I'll take that on board!
not dissing the shots fella but I think the strong angles detract from those particular ones

just did my first one the other week too, vowed it was a one off deal for some friends but off the back now got requests to do others so eff it, why not am in for a slice of that pie as its all bottom feeder work anyway wink

You were unlucky on the 'no-click registrar' - I've generally found them much more easy-going than vicars and they often (but not always) allow flash. Plus, on the day, you do need to radiate a certain confidence - which I guess is tricky if you don't feel confident!

I think you've done remarkably well considering it's your first wedding and the 70-200 was hired, so you had little familiarity with it. However I do think that much of the success of your results comes from post-production rather than basic image quality. I'm not a fan of wacky angles - like the gravity-defying namecards - and some of your colours look rather odd, especially on the 'straight' group photos. I think much of the success comes from the black and white conversions, and to my mind a few fail on technical grounds, but you've got 5-6 nice shots I'd be happy with. So, bearing in mind age, experience and kit, an excellent result smile
