Rain stopped play pretty much, as far as seeing the real flame and thunder show went. Didnt even get my 70/300 out.
Had a play with some fair ground pics, whats the verdict ?

I only really ttok this as a snap to show Mrs F how huge the fire was, but she thinks it has atmosphere....Im not convinced tbh.

I remember going to a Santa Pod meet many years ago where the best video footage I got from the weekend was of people's tents blowing away in the howling winds that beset the entire event.

Shame the weather was crap. The fire shot may have been better if you did get the long lens out, I would like to have seen a shot with fire filling the frame and sillouttes of the people in front smile Looks like an impressive fire though!

I really struggled to get good photos on Saturday, the cloud cover made it very dark and muggins here used his zoom lense a little too close to the track. I spent most of my day with Top Fuel Digger in the paddock though.

The exact moment his engine exits via his car. This delayed the runs by what seemed like hours.

It was my first time at a drag racing event, I'll definitly be going again.

Such an ugly bastid...
Top notch shots chap, and thank you for sticking it out all day, I imagine it got a little dull seeing little in the way of track action during the afternoon frown

Better ? TBH, I wanted to have a good play around with the fire, but the weather was pretty crap and I just wanted to get home.

Love that first pic, was that done using a long exposure?
