I was thinking of buying this on eBay.....

It's a non-canon battery. They look ok to me but could they damage my camera?

Yes. Used them loads in my old 300D. Better life than the canon's in some cases (higher capacity than the OEM ones). Bit more compicated with the Nikon clones though, where there's more intelligence built into the batteries to give state of charge / state of health indication.

They are fine. You can get them cheaper than your Hong Kong eBay seller though...

I have 4 of these from 7dayshop and they are as good if not better than the genuine one.

Cheers all!

I bought the ones from the HK seller simply because they offer free postage to Austria where I live. Hopefully they'll arrive before I leave for Ireland on this wedding...

I use them along with my phottix grip for my 40D. they work fine and last as long as canon ones do. plus if they leak in the grip its not going to damage my camera

Hmmmm....I was looking at the grip also. Kinda tempting, but too bulky for my liking....

I'll second that.

I had 5 or 6 7dayshop BP-511's when i had the 20D and they were fine.
