Some snaps from Bonneville, haven't had any time to process them at all so there are a few duds . . .

Very, very hot, must have been 110+ in the afternoon, huge respect to the drivers in full gear in extremely cramped cockpits in that heat . . . the fast guys were apparently doing 400mph++ . . .

I was dreading the exposure problems that blazing sunshine on a white salt flat would bring but it seems that the D3 is hugely more capable than the D2x in that respect . . . I have active d-lighting set to low . . . that seems to be the thing that makes the difference . . .

The camera was getting too hot to touch in the sunlight ;-)

raw + lightroom, active d-lighting in the camera, these are just jpegs generated direct from the raws . . .

capture NX is next to useless from a performance and usability point of view, if I want to post process with d-lighting I just do it in the camera . . .

Some really nice photos there - great to see the D3 being put to good use smile

There are quite a few were the exposure looks a little iffy (some over, some under). Bonneville looks excellent smile

Cool biggrin

I'm on board with a team made up from Northern Ireland and the US who will be running a VW on the salt in 2010. I can't wait to go, it's something I've always wanted to do biggrin

Nice pics.

This year is the first time I haven't been in the last six years - glad it stayed dry and sunny for you !

Here are a couple of mine from previous years, loads more at my site www.fluidimages.co.uk

Yeah, I shot the lot on auto, it was far too bright to see the monitor on the camera so had no option (and was there to see the action as the first priority), I thought on full auto it did rather well ;-). . . nothing irrecoverable . . . I've now had time to play with them a little so will upload them when I have time . . .

From the heat in the desert to the rain on the west coast . . . real weather differences - much more interesting then the never changing blandness that seems so common in the UK . . .

Time to get out of rip off britian . . .
