Import EOS 40D

I've found an EOS 40D kit on eBay (with the 28-135mm IS lens) and emailed the seller about it.
Here's what he said-
"This is an US model, but totally compatible for use in the UK."
I imagine that means it's just got a generic charger bunged in the box and has a 12 month international warranty (I have emailed him bnack to confirm), is there anything else to look out for on imports?
Or is their extra hassle, and it would just be worth getting a UK one?
The camera and lens is £699.99 BIN or best offer and he has several others on normal auctions

Bodies don't have international warrenties from Canon.

So it'd have no warranty then?
The guy emailed me back to say it would, and that it would have a UK charger bundled with it.
Seems a good deal, but it certainly won't be if it has no warranty (if only for peace of mind!)

I've heard you can buy an intenational warranty from Mack, but never tried it.

The stuff from Kerso is also US-spec so I guess you'd have the same problem.

If in doubt go for a reputable UK seller like Warehouse Express. Personally I don't mind buying lenses from overseas but I feel happier if complex bits like bodies come from the UK.

I think you're right.
Just not worth the hassle if there was anything wrong with it! And as I said, if only for peace of mind.
Maybe buy it body only from a UK supplier and get the lenses elsewhere!
