I've been wondering what part of history I'd like to go back to for some great shots. I think it would be either the Roman Empire or the Battle of Trafalgar or maybe ancient Egypt. Though I think the Wild West would be good too, I know they had cameras then but you had to stand still for 2 days to get an exposure hehe

Any ideas and what would you take, Canon or Nikon? smile

Just gonna order 5000 8Gb CF cards

Not too far back for me, London in either the 1960's with a Leica M series or the 1980's with a Nikon F3& MD4 motordrive.

Both times would be to document the changing of society as a new generation came through and changed things very quickly.

1920s/1930s please. The decadent empire, fun and frolics, short skirts, cucumber sandwiches, sports cars, open roads, no speed limits, jazz, Gershwin, tally ho and ra!

However I shall sell my house in 2008 and take the loot back to the period biggrin

And exactly how do you plan to look at a JPG file in 1940?

Tough choice between Vietnam War and World War II. World War II if I could hook up with Robert Capa :swoon:

Leica for WWII, Nikon for Vietnam (as seen as McCullin's managed to stop a bullet. For anyone who hasn't seen it, thecamera is in the museum in Bradford.)

It sounds a bit like today; some of us still experience fun and frolics, short(er) skirts, cucumber sandwiches and sports cars - OK .... no empire, but there were speed limits back then (except between 1930 & 1935), and jazz is much better now smile

Perhaps the difference is the absence of guilt and political correctness, a smaller population, no chattering 'celeb' culture, lower taxes, 'environmentalists' telling us we're bad, and other things that bog us down now.
