so, i had a couple of good weeks, and reinvested best part of £1200 on some new gear. New Nikon d300 and battery grip, 8gb card, few batteries and a bag.

im a happy man, this thing kicks arse!!!! i am comparing it to the D100 i have endured for the last few years.

anyone else got one, any tricks, tips or things to look out for? smile

Have the same setup, D200 relegated to backup cam & D100 not worth ebaying as its worth naff all these days!! No tips really, just get stuck into the manual and try out all the features.... its a great camera.

I have had a D300 since December and love using it. Downloading the custom spreadsheet from nickonians really helped. Oh and take it off P mode.

I absolutely love my D300.

I cannot believe it's battery life as well. I have the MB-D10 grip (with 8x NiMh rechargeables) and the camera set to use the grip first, then the camera battery next.

I have shot at least 6500 shots with it since I had it.

I have recharged it three times...and its still showing a full charge on the camera and the battery pack - I shot a wedding yesterday and clattered off about 1000 shots as I was there to the last knockings of the reception.

I really can't fault the D300 at all. Great low light performance, robust and delivers great images.

Enjoy yours.

Thats what i was hoping for, i have had a play yesterday and tried out some of the features, but there is so much to it, a few weeks of constant use and getting settings are required.

It is just such an amazing step from that old D100. I know it really should be, but even so.

i was reluctant at first to spend the money, but i am now just so glad i did it!
