After buying my 400D i've bought 3 SanDisk CF Cards, a 1GB Ultra II, a 2GB Extreme III and a 4GB Extreme III. I was sorting out my gear today a spotted that the 2 Extreme III's dont look the same.

My Ultra looks the same as the 2GB Extreme. I also noticed that while the boxes the Exremes came in where the same, the 2GB had far more stuff in it. A CD with some form of Recovery software and some a couple of booklets.

Are there any other ways to tell, websites etc etc. None of the cards came from ebay or Hong Kong. The 2GB came from Play.com and the 4GB from a retailer who advertises in Photography Monthly.

The 4GB card was the one in my camera for most of LM week and worked faultlessly.

TIA
Stuart.

If anything is fake its the 2GB one, mine doesn't look anything like that (more like the 4GB one) but it just looks older?

ETA - The 20Mb/s that is written on my card, what exactly is this, the speed the camera writes it, the transfer speed or something else?

ETA - That is definately a genuine card but just old.

Cheers

Good to know. Thanks.

I know the 2GB Isnt a fake because my 1GB Ultra looks exactly the same.

The speed is maximum speed that Data can be written to the card, if your camera is capable at writing to the card at that speed.

Thanks for the reply.

1 - If you scroll down the page the info is there for all SanDisk cards.
2 - So?

Register them with Sandisk, then you'll know 1 way or the other.

In my experience Sandisk cards (SD or CF) always come with a couple of leaflets and the recovery disk.

I have a 4GB Extreme III that looks exactly like yours. It came with a recovery CD, instruction leaflets and a keyring CF card holder.

Simplest solution is to buy them from Play.com or 7dayshop.com - they are cheap as chips and genuine. Why risk a fake one from an eBay seller for a tiny saving?

ETA - all mine look like the one on the left, never seen one like the one on the right.
