Hi Ph'ers,

This is my first photo posted on here (or on any forum!). I'm fairly new to digital photgraphy but I'm learning slowly...

Here is a shot I took at Castle Combe last saturday with my trusty D40. Please feel free to comment - good and bad.

Right, here goes - Hope this works!

Cheers,

Tom.

It's an imaginative framing and I can see the effect you were after. Unfortunately a few things count against it.

The board at the end of the Pirelli sign ruins the aesthetic. You ought to have moved down track, opted for a longer focal length and shot the Pirelli sign at an oblique such that it filled the top of the shot better.

The other thing I'd note is that the most interesting aspect of the shot is the only part that's blurred!wink

Keep trying because trial and error will develop your eye. That's certainly a lot better than the close ups of Ferrari badges that most beginners come up with.

Cheers for the contructive critique! All things to bear in mind for next time...

I agree with this as an option...

I'd add to this that your shot as posted (or as described above) could work as one in a set of a few pics from your event. I like to see some of the details but not without seeing the car(s) fully.

Your shot is well exposed with good colour smile

One of my favourite locations, here's a few that I was quite pleased with from various days at Castle Combe.
