Weird things that happen to you whilst photographing
Discussion
Major league oddness whilst out photographing last night!
Mrs CVP has been away on business so I took the opportunity to go out in the city and just wander around with my camera for a while. One statue I really like is the charging bull right at the bottom end of Manhattan island near the Bowling Green subway station but I figured a daytime shot would not work at all as not only are there simply loads of tourists all over it but the backgound is very cluttered.
So 10pm ish at night I walk down there and there is nobody around, brilliant. Tripod set up, compose and wait for some traffic so I can go long exposure and get some light trails in the pic. Cue couple walking down the street post dinner. The bloke is completely smashed, can't quite keep a straight line when walking. He's all over the bull and then proceeds to try and climb up and sit on it, during the whole time his wife has been standing patiently next to me.
Amazingly enough he makes it up there without falling off.
Then he proceeds to shout down to his wife "Hey ***, take a picture, this is going to be the picture I use when I float on the stock exchange, hell yeah 41 and I've still got game".
At this point the wife turns towards me and says quite calmly "You have no idea how much I hate this man!" and then proceeds to take his picture "Got it honey"
What are you meant to say to that? I mumble something in agreement that he's being a bit of a knob whilst all the time Mr Going to Float is continuing to pose on the bull. I suspect the only floating he'll do after Wall Street is floating in the East River
Weirdness of the highest order.
So the question is what weirdness has happened to you fellow snappers whilst out and about with the camera (apart from the police / doughnut van incident
)
Pic included for completeness

my bro works over there, visited him a while back and was struck by that statue. it looks class, and that is a great photo too. love the light and slow capture, great stuff!
in fact the night we were there the wife and i had a meal not far from there, i got pretty drunk too. i have an amazing shot of me......no wait, no.....'honey!?!'
Superb shot!
Last week an employee of one of my clients dropped his trousers in front of me and mooned me. I never took a shot though as I wouldn't have wanted it to be public domain as I doubt it would go down too well with his boss (and not really a shot I'd keep for posterity) . It was funny though, if not unexpected.
I guess you have to be careful what you wish for. I've done a few shoots on building sites this year and have been moaning to some friends about how builders are so pc these days.
