sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there anything to be gained from having both my polariser and UV filter attached?

Just received an adapter ring I ordered, so i can fit my old polariser on my nikon- should come in handy at le mans

Nothing to be gained to be honest.. the more you have on the end of your lense the less the frame will be filled. One or the other in my oppinion.

If the UV filter is cheap and the polarizer expensive, there may be some advantage to fitting them so the UV one gets hurt if anything knocks it.

Otherwise, there's no point under normal conditions (I'm not sure about high altitude in the snow, where I was led to believe limiting UV has benefits).

ALL (well apart from the Leica M8) digital sensors have UV filters on anyhow, otherwise they register UV light and you'd never see black...

Your not going to use the CPL all the time, I wouldnt be bothered unmounting a UV, mounting that to the CPL then back on the camera , considering most of the time your going to have your hand on the CPL adjusting anyhow...

Then again I dont use UV filters or whatever for protection anyhow.
