I've had my little 5mp Canon Ixus for nearly 3 years now, it's been great ( one of the raspberry coloured ones ).

Looking at the market, the newer Ixus cameras are not as stylish, but they seem very capable on the spec sheet. Are they the best for this sort of money, or should i be looking elsewhere??

Cheers in advance thumbup

One advantage IXUS cameras have is CHDK firmware hacks. They can give you a lot of the functionality of the DSLR that use the same DIGIC processor. I now save all my pictures in RAW format on my IXUS50, but had to get a larger SD card.

Depends what else you use.

I've got a good amateur-level D-SLR and for the last year or so have hardly used my Powershot, so I'm considering replacing it with a lower-quality but more relevant Olumpus mju shock/waterproof camera, which will be adequate for those occasions where I don't want to take a D-SLR, but will also be much better when snorkelling than a waterproof disposable and safer when down the pub (for example) than the Powershot.

If it's your only camera then yes, get another Canon, they're still the best overall for quality.

I was in the same position; my Ixus 3 was playing up - random purple artefacts across images.

So I replaced it with.....another Ixus (960).

I'd better not read that review site - just in case.
