Digital compact questions - Canon Powershot G9

[fryske]

I take lots of pictures but I make no pretence of being "into" photography!

I have a Canon Powershot A80 that I've had for about 4 years - the screen is starting to darken and I'm looking for a new gadget - perhaps with RAW format capability -

Anyone got any opinions on the Canon Powershot G9??

It seems to be about the right price and would hopefully let me get a little further into digital photography??

apologies for asking such bone questions - I realise that this is the equivalent of asking whether to buy a Focus or an Astra!

I'm no expert, but I did a lot of research and ended up buying one. It is fantastic and a couple of much more experienced photographer friends of mine loved it. I bought mine in the US for $499 IIRC at christmas
