I decided to have a weekend off from motorsport, and spent some time pottering about in the garden. Clicky for larger versionswink

This Aphid was less than 1mm long, shot at 5:1.

These were all hand held, no stacking or cropping, manual everything and taken with the 40D, MP-E65 f2.8 lens and MT-24EX flash. I am getting used to the new gear now, what a difference from the 100mm f2.8.

Cheers,

Neil.

Very nice, esp the top one. I think Jenks has a serious rival at last!

that's funny Paul, I called the shot "Alien Eyes" on flickr biggrin

If you need any help with macro lenses, give me a shout, I have been through all the alternatives recently (and spent a small fortune in the meantime)

Very good stuff, like the way you've handled the lighting. That first one reminds me of some old biology books where you had pages that folded back to reveal various sections of the body layer by layer.

I take it the two white lines on each bubble are the refections from the flash gun? Fantastic macro setup though.
