We had a camera club outing to Bird World near Farnham the other week, I hadn't been there since I was 6 years old so it must have changed a bit ! Being an obtuse person the first thing that got my attention was that they have an aquarium now so I got a snap of one of their Caymans (through some thick glass!):

This chap put on a nice striking pose for me, so I've played around to try to make him a bit more intense. After this I was tempted to call him a blue bird rather than a vulture though:

There were quite a few herons lurking around the place waiting for the penguins to be fed so that they could pick up the debris:

Something to add a little colour:

Don't know what this fellow was though but he was in the seashore enclosure:

Cracking shots, althought for me at least the vulture is just a bit too blue.
(It was 1989 I think.)

Very nice. What sort of lens were you using?
If you like BirdWorld there is an Otter Sanctuary not far away in the New Forest that provides some fun shots...
The New Forest Otter and Owl sanctuary! We there last month too! We felt a little disappointed with the otter place to be honest, so we popped round to Beaulieu to bring some good to the day If you like BirdWorld there is an Otter Sanctuary not far away in the New Forest that provides some fun shots...

Yep, looking at the vulture in the light of day I think I should reduce the saturation a bit. Think you're right about the Black Crowned Night Heron, the pics that come up on Google look very much like him.I think it's a Black Crowned Night Heron, but I've been wrong before.
Snapping the Cayman was interesting, halfway through my shoot the model got bored and decided to bury his snout in the sand then sweep it about which is why he's got so much piled up on top. I bet if I'd tried to put it there he wouldn't have let me. Oh well, at least he held still enough for an exposure of a whole second !
