While having a bbq today i thought i would test out the 18-55 kit lens on the 400d. I am particularly happy with shot 3.

How much should I expect to pay for a 18-55 lens on the 400d?

I'v got the 18-55 kit lens for that camera going spare, feel free to make me an offer!

The kit lens is only about £50 if brought new, so I bet you could pick up a bargain on ebay.

I'd go for a F1.8 50mm Prime for about £60 off Amazon instead. Seems to be the common bit of advice from everyone, much faster so you can take photos in lower light, lot wider aperture too so you can play around with depth of field a lot more and it will force you to compose your shots better as you can't zoom in on anything, I certainly need to play around with mine more (and the whole camera in general).

you can get it for £350 (after claiming cashback) from tesco, possibly a safer bet?
