I am really enjoying photography at present and would like to invest in a good camera. Canon EOS 450 just released, what do you think? I am not going to use it professionally, just a hobby.

Canon EOS 450D + 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens
£549.99

Excellent camera, not a bad price. Warehouseexpress.com have it for £10 less so nothing in it. For what you want, should do you fine!

you could pick up a 400d a lot cheaper at the moment. the 450d has a live viewer and is 12.2mp as opposed to the 400d which is view finder only and 10.1mp. as it is just hobby photos, i would say save the pennies and get the 400d personally. that is the camera i have and i am happy with it apart from the kit lens which is a bit limited.

I cannot comment on sony or nikon as never used them but they offer much the same as the canon as far as i know, just some are better at things than others.

there is a lot of knowledge on here so i guess someone will give you a better comparison.

ive recently got into photography, I use the 400D got the 18-55m kit lens and a 50mm 1.8. Kit is definatly performing better than i am so far smile

Id prob save cash with a 400D (unless you need live view?) Then use the cash saved to buy your preferred lens.
