Hi guys, does anyone know how to stamp a copyright onto multiple photos using either paintshop pro 9 or photoshop CS3, i've had a look and can't find anything that can help me, thought i'd ask your expert minds.

Thanks

I'll have a look later, but from memory PSP9 can do it as a batch process - you add the text to one, and then run a batch process.

Depends how many you have to do...

I personally would do each one in turn using the "remember text" option in PSP and then position it differently for each pic.

Hope that helps

In that case it may be worth paying for the digital watermark facility in PSP.

Alternatively upload them somewhere where they wither auto watermark for you, or disable rightclick save as.

May be worth a look at SmugMug?

What are you trying to do with the pics?

I personally have avoided the thorny issue of watermarking as they can be removed fairly easily and if you are looking to sell copies then why plaster text all over your lovely pic?

If you place the watermark on the edge it can be easily cropped off, so I have given up with them, but then on my site I use a hosting co that manages the size & quality for mewink

It's your call, but if it's for a mate I personally wouldn't bother.

Maybe worth covering off a small .txt file on the CD as well stating that you grant him a personal usage licence in perpetuity for the unmodified images contained on the disc?

I'm sure there *is* a way to do it in PSP9 but I'm on my work laptop (no PSP here) so can't check for you.

In PS CS3, you need to create an "action", then batch process. Off the top of my head...
Go to actions palette.
Create new action (give it a sensible name)
Then record the adding of your text (ie create text object, write copyright text into object, then maybe adjust position and transparency)
Stop recording (basically creating a macro).
Then in Batch process (off the file menu) you select the images you want to edit, the destination folder and the action you want to apply (the one you just created) and set it going - hey presto!

Very simple, though there may be some fart arsing with the save in the action (if you choose to add this to the action, you don't have too) and the positioning of the text. Easiest is top LH corner - that way it's always the same. If you try and add it bottom right it gets complicated with protrait and landscape images, different resolutions etc, as the text you placed in your action is offset from 0,0 in the top left corner). You can get round this with some code I believe, but I haven't done it -yet!

Another reason why Photoshop is so great and cutdown versions, well just aren't!

Just looked in the help - if you want it bottom left sit seems you need to set the rulers to percent (not px or mm etc) before you record the action, that way it should be roughly in the right location, assuming you file sizes don't cahnge too much.

I'm pretty sure you can add copyright watermarks with JAlbum

You certinly can, in the settings > filter option (for the chameleon skin; maybe same for all skins) but that will produce an album, which he may not want. It will certainly getover the problems of them being used without permission as it scales them down a lot, too.

It's also free and very easy to use. Use Jalbum to create the album and burn to a disk. JOB DONE smile

Do a search on Google for photoshop watermark actions.
You'd be surprised how much can be automated in photoshop.
