Z-Cars bike engined mini
Discussion
This evening I had the opportunity to take some pictures of a rear engined Mini belonging to a work colleague.
This car is nuts - GSXR1000 bike engine, sequential gearbox, 4 point harnesses, wilwood 4 pots, the whole 9 yards. No reverse gear though!
I revisted the location I used for my S2000 photos a while ago, because I felt it had more to give and this car would suit the barren background.
Anyway, I am reasonably pleased with these, but would invite your comments/criticisms.
Thanks for looking!

tell him the only engine for a Mini is an A-series, and it should be in the front
It's a her actually, but as her last Mini was a magazine featured a-series engined 1300 straight cut gearbox effort, this one was always going to be something different.
Besides which, swapping this;

with this;

is probably a lot of work to undo! The car sounds great, and whilst it's a little odd to drive thanks to the bike clutch and sequential gearbox (forward once for first, back for 2nd to 6th, just like a bike) it's hard to a imagine an A series engined car being this much of an event.

Glad you like them Jon!
These were all shot with a Nikon D200, with either a Sigma 10-20 (always at 10mm) or a Nikkor 28-70 f/2.8
Some of these have an SB600 providing fill flash. I would have used my two Vivitar 285hv flashes but my radio triggers haven't been delivered yet.
Photoshop wise they have all had levels and a very slight curve added, and not much else.

Is a car/ bike hybrid a cake?
Great shots overall. #10 the sky looks a little too friendly. #1 if I'm being really picky it bugs me that you've opened the sequence with this shot. Like the shot itself but would have preferred a less extreme starting point (say 7 or 9).
Really like the caliper shot and the harness too.

Thanks for the feedback AndWhy, it's quite useful as you've actually pointed out some things I wasn't sure about. When I was taking #10 it struck me that the colours of the sky where very close to the colours of the car. I messed around with levels a bit in photoshop to try to highlight this but clearly went too far.Funnily enough I deliberately posted #1 first as I felt it was the most striking image, but did consider saving it for last.
