Canon Video - Laptop advice
Discussion
Hi all..
Quick question for a friend of mine... They have a Canon HDV camcorder which appears to come with a Mini 4pin Firewire (cam end) to large 6pin firewire lead.... now, my laptop has mini 4 pin input... so, if we get a mini-mini firewire lead we should in theory be able to plug into laptop and use Windows Movie Maker to 'import' the video??
Sounds too easy.... any issues with this?

In theory yes.
How powerful is the laptop? HDV is a bit of a processor hog, and ive found computers without enough beef can have trouble capturing it. (which, in theory makes no sense- it is just transfering 1s and 0s, but i think most editing systems preview the footage as it comes in, so if it cant decompress and display the preview on the fly, then in trips up)
