I've got a 120gig VP 8360 and its pretty good. the screen is a bit too bright but other than that ts ace for the money. I got mine from mymemory for £225 IIRC
Must admit I was primarily looking at the VP5500, but the 8360 seems to act as a video player and much more – for not a lot more cash.Couple of quick Q’s…
1) Do you shoot in RAW, and does it display them?
2) How long (approx) does it take to copy 1GB?
3) Have you had any problems at all?
TIA

does not take long to transfer over but it depends on the card.
I do shoot raw but the 40D does not show up sharp which will be down to the firmware.
the copy does not retain the img numbers from the camera which can be a pain when you download say 3 out of 4 cards.
I can't really complain about it due to the price and I have no experience of the canon or epson viewers

Transfer rates look pretty normal from device to device, and not too bothered about it being pinsharp – just want to be able to browse really, rather than taking a laptop on holiday.I do shoot raw but the 40D does not show up sharp which will be down to the firmware.

That does concern me. So what happens when you’ve uploaded a card (or ten) to the device? What does it do to the names?My current (not screen) device just copies the whole thing, and places each card into a folder;
Card1
Card2
Card3
….
Then in the folder Card1, you have the files;
IMG_1234
IMG_1235
IMG_1236
...
ETA - Thanks for the help Poah!

the 20D RAWs are perfectly fine but you can't really look at the 40D's one for any information, like I say its clearly a firmware problem since I've never updated it.
for each card it will download into a new folder
card 1 - into folder CF-00001 the numbers will change from IMG_1000 to 100_1000
card 2 - into folder CF-00002 the numbers will change from IMG_2000 to 100_2000

card 2 - into folder CF-00002 the numbers will change from IMG_2000 to 100_2000
new firmware covers the new cameras which I'm just installing.
