Couple of snaps from Nigeria...
Discussion
Interesting stuff Andy - just as by the by, do you feel safe doing street photography there? I've had a couple of 'incidents' with locals in Africa, not Nigeria, and have learnt to be very cautious about brandishing expensive camera gear in deprived areas.
Couple of your shots quite gritty - nice.

Not expesive camera gear. Just my little battered Lumix snappy cam! It's actually pretty safe in the daytime, especially as we have a driver who knows what is what. He helps us out when buying stuff so we don't get ripped off, etc, so it's not really a big deal. However, never before have I been to a country where you distrust everyone. It's weird. Been to India, South Africa, Middle east, etc, and these Nigerians really are something else. Seems to be rule of thumb to fleece whoever you can, whenever you can, especially if you are a white man. I'm in Calabar at the moment, and apart from the 2 chaps I work with, I have only seen 2 other white folk. Very odd for a port town.

Like the gritty feel to the woodyard. I'm sure I bought some ebony wood there a few years back.
First one looks like Lekki Expressway to me.
Like them. As you say - during the day you're relatively okay as long as you've got a local.
Tis not lekki Expressway. Was taken on Marian Road, which runs pretty much straight through Calabar. If you know it, I'm staying right where Fiesta Fries is!First one looks like Lekki Expressway to me.
