Had the Leon out today after a clean and tried some HDR at a location close to home:

Looks good. What program did you use?

Sorry but that's way to over used on the luminescent and your micro contrast looks ramped up too. HDR really only works where there is a lot of range in the shot from shadows to highlights. Give it a try under early dawn or late dusk light. Keep the sliders so you don't end up with something that is blatantly HDR, tone map things subtly.

Looks like Photomatix from www.hdrsoft.com good tool, free full functional demo too but you get its logo over the end results.

Thought it might be.

I think there's room for two applications of HDR - firstly, like you say to enhance realistic looking shots, but I also think that overtly stylised HDR can be made to work too.

Either way, the shot looks like a sucessful application of HDR, my attempts at it all just looked like normal photos and I was barely able to tell if it had worked.

Not too sure on the background but I like how the car comes out looking smooth all over.

So maybe a more simple background for me.

Yeah I did ctually search for a background that had a bit of contrast in it!!
I am aware it was overdone but for me thats the plus in HDR it creates an image thats a bit unreal. Thanks anyway guys!!!
