hehe what a curious coincidence after all the discussions this week about copyright - these pictures all (with the exception of fume troll's) appeared on a two-page spread in the Daily Wail today. I nearly fell off my seat on the train when I saw a bloke reading it and thought 'I recognise that photo' - I even had to buy a copy at the station to check! redface

They weren't credited to anyone, and had the caption "...But a new internet fad involves thousands of people from around the world posting pictures of themselves 'holding' the sun...". They were neatly cropped to remove the copyright notices that you see on some of the posted photos.

I'm not suggesting this has anything to do with Haymarket at all by the way, just that it's weird when you've been discussing something and suddenly an example crops up. I wonder if the DM got them from the same site as WTD, and if they contacted the copyright holders first? I'm guessing they got (bought) them from the same site because if you just google, then you find some images that are much better than some of the ones in the paper.

hmm, the one below is copyright (not even creative commons). That was the only one I looked at on flickr.

It would be interesting to see what ones were used in the paper?

unless flickr sold them of course..

Hi

I would've taken a photo of the newspaper pages, but my sense of irony kicked in before I did it hehe

Going through WTD's original post, the following were used: Nos 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 12. Plus 2 or 3 others not on his original post.
