Which website to have wedding guests upload their photos to?
Discussion
Hi, I'm getting married in the Summer.
Instead of "cameras on tables" at the reception we figured that since everyone brings their own digital camera these days we should set-up a "group" (is this the right terminology?) on a photo sharing website for people to upload to. We'd like to make the group have a login, so that only people we've given the password to can upload or download.
The logon details will be printed in invites and put out on tables at the reception, so that when people get home it's nice and simple for them to upload their pics for other guests to see and download.
My question is: Which website do you reccomend for this purpose and why?
Many thanks.

Flickr every time IMHO - www.flickr.com
Lets you have multiple albums, people can upload to their own area and simply tag the photos with a unique code that only you know about so you can find them easily. You can choose the privacy settings of each album / photo so that some can be restricted to family / friends. Generally nicest user interface of any of the photo sharing sites.

Wow, that's pretty conclusive!! Cheers for your input guys. I'm going to use Flickr.
I've had a bit of a play with it and it looks good, the only thing that's a bit of a pain is that everyone who wants to use it must have their own Yahoo! account, and I think a lot of my guest will not.
I want to make it nice and easy for them so rather than have them all need to sign up for their own, I've setup a new Yahoo! account in a made up name. I'm then going to distribute the username and password to all my guests, so all they have to do is login and upload. (I've set the privacy to family only by default). I'll ask them all to put their photos in a new "Set" and name that set after their own real world name, so we all know who's photos are who's.
This seems to work just as well as a group (since I want to let all my guests have access to all photos) but the only drawback is that they are all effectivly "admin" so could rename or delete each others photos if they wished to. I'll have to trust them I guess!
One other thing is the monthly upload limit of 100mb. I can imagine that just for the one week or month after the wedding I'll have a lot more than 100mb uploaded, so I think I'll have to look into how to make this a paid account, to free up some more upload and storage quotas. I'm off to do that now...
Cheers.

OK, I've just been back to Flickr to check out their "paid for" accounts. It appears there's only one option, called a "Pro Account". It costs $24.95 (about £13) per YEAR, and you get unlimited uploads and unlimited storage, which I think it pretty amazing value.
Cheers for the tips guys!!

It is bloody good value, isn't it? Plus, you can upload full size images, it will resize them for you and you can use it as a backup (assuming you don't bank on it always being there as there are no "guarantees" of service availability). Definitely worth downloading the Flickr Uploadr if you plan on uploading a large amount of stuff.
Plus there are some fabulous photographers on there - go to Explore > Last 7 days interesting, and wear out your mouse clicking "more please"!
