Hi,
I'm new to this game so any advice on the following problem would be greatly appreciated.
We took some outside photos over the weekend and a few of them seem to have been contaminated with what looks like small droplets of light on the photos. only one or two but enough to spoil it. This only happened on about 10% of the photos but unfortunately on the wrong 10%.
The set up which I am using is, and I know its not the best equiptment but it will have to do, is. 400D with a Sigma 18-200 lens. I also have a UV filter to protect the lens.
Everything is clean so I'm not sure if it is my competence, or perhaps the filter which, i'm afraid to say is a Jessops one (the only one I could blag for free)
Can't post a photo as I'm at work but if one is required then I can do so later on.
As mentioned, if anyone could help it would be appreciated.

A super zoom (like the 18-200) will have many, many elements (little lenses) to do it's big zoom range. Each one is prove to flare, so as said this may be a problem. Other possibility is dust on the sensor, though the 400D should to less prone to this.
Keeping everything as clean as possible and using a lens hood should help.

If you need any photoshop work carried out to remove the defects, then you can send the pics to Murray.Aitken@BTinternet.com and i'll see what I can do for ya.

Hi there, Thank's for you help on this, from what you are suggesting it does sound like flare. I've posted 2 photos, one bad, one not too bad (please don't laugh at the quality, it was only a morning stroll!!!)

Another vote for lens flare here

Do you have a lens hood ? can help in these situations

Cheers.
