at the mo I have a sony p200 7.2 3x optical close pics are ace but the long ones lack zoom capability and with my sony being so small it shakes like a bastard, I bought my dad a little one for crimbo and tried out a cannon 8mp with 10x optical zoom whillst I was in the shop, it was like a cross between an slr and a small digital, it had a zoom lens but was not swappable, would something like this take good pics zoomed in at the track ?
iirc it was £300 ish, could someone pont me in the right direction please thumbup
as you can tell I havn't got the foggiest about said topic, thanks in advance !

I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ18 a while back - just over £200 but I've been pleased with it. Tried to look at a few different cameras and read a lot of mag reviews where it did pretty well. It will do me until I can afford a decent SLR.
It has an 18x zoom and 8mp - also many different modes which are useful if you're not a photography expert

I bought a Ricoh Capilo R7 very recently which has a 28-200mm equivalent lens (x7 optical zoom). It's tiny and most other cameras this size only manage x4 optical zoom at most.
