I know photos taken by 'proper' cameras will always be better but how good are photos taken by the best camera phones these days ??

My old Nokia has a 1.3 megapixel camera and some of the photos ain't that bad if you just want to stick them on the web or store them on your PC. Better than nothing at all.

But what about the other phones that now have a 3 or 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens ?? Anybody taken any and if so what are they like ??

I have a Nokia N95 (worst phone ever I may add) and that has a 5mpx Camera.. quite frankley its crap. Levels are everywhere. Its probley just me expecting more out of it having own a DSLR. Its good enough to capture something to use as a reference tho.

All the photos below were taken on a Nokia N95 - I'd say they were damn good for a camera phone?

OK, so zoom in and the compression is bad, but prints at 6" x 4" are great.

Blimey !! I wouldn't have thought that those photos have come from a camera phone !! I would say they're pretty good !! Funnily enough I was thinking about the N95. Two conflicting opinions though scratchchin

N95- I love it- camera is great!!! As for the phone I only use it as a phone or to text not as a gadget so I can't comment on all the bells and whistles. Only downside noticed is it has a short battery life compared to my old Nokia.

Im probley being a bit harsh. Myn crashes non stop and build quality isn't nokias usual standard. The 8gig one tho seems to have all these problems solved, and the camera is a lot quicker.

my old Sony K800i Cybershot could take a fairly decent pic,

hardly the best cam or phone though in the big scheme of things really IMO!

Get the latest firmware and the battery and camera response times are so much better. The latest is version 20.

The first 4 were taken on a standard N95, the last one (Subaru) on the 8Gb version.

As stated in the other posts, update your firmware to v20. The 8Gb version has as more powerful battery and last WAY longer - good 2 or 3 days.

Normally do, but I purposely left them at native size so people could look at the full quality pic from the phone. If it's a problem, I can resize...
