Had my first go with Photomatrix tonight (trial version...) really fun to use, will probably purchase the whole version.

I hadnt set out with the intention of taking photos, but i think they work pretty well...

Location is at Stirling Castle.

that second photo is interesting, could you post the photos that went into making it?

A High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo is a way of capturing a lot more detail of shots. Basically you set the camera ona tripod and take three photos you need to take one normally exposed and then normally 1 under and 1 over, normally by measured stops, say +/- 2.

The using PS you an blend these three images together to make one. It can be quite helpful, for example where you blow all the detail out of the sky and it turns white, but you get the other part of the image fine. So in that case shoot with a much faster shutter for the second shot, it will capture a more dramatic sky, and darken the forground, but blend the conbination together and you can get interesting results.

I like the technique and there are loads of photos on the net, although ive never had much success with these.

Its a good attempt, although to me the feature is a little bland, i think shooting at dawn or sunset might work a little better. Can you post the images you used to make the HDR?
