Haven't been in here in a long time, but I think I'll have to get back into it smile.

Got myself a camera before christmas on a credit card bending shopping spree in New York! Nikon D80 with a 18-55 (a bit small I know but it left money for the other lens which I really wanted) and a Sigma 10-20 wide angle lens along with a few filters and bits and bobs. Having never even used an slr before it's been a mad learning curve, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. The quality is amazing and is quite some jump from my compact that even won me a monthly comp on here a few years ago!

Anyway, was out at an Irish forum meet last weekend and got a few that I liked. Location was up the Wicklow mountains a few miles from Glendalough.

and from a big meet back in November down in Cork

Excellent shots by the way. Could I ask how much you paid for the camera and which lens/filters have you used with these shots. I am also fairly new to photography , have only used a film based SLR previously....but if a relatively new user can produce shots like this ...then I am tempted to get one myself.

Nice shots smile

I've been looking at the sigma 10-20 for a while now, shots like these make it all the more tempting biggrin

Cheers.

Cheers,

Boxster, I think the camera with small lense was about $800 and the 10-20 was about $380 iirc. Not sure how that compares to Sterling, but against the Euro it's quite a bit cheaper biggrin

FPC: they were all taken using the wide angle. I got it as most of the shots I take (intend to take anyway) will be of cars and can get good shots with it. Distorted at times, yes, but I like it alot.

Like the extreme wide angle on the Exige. Is that a delliberate vignette or does the lens really not cover the sensor at the very widest angles?

That, I've no idea about! Didn't do anything different while taking it. I like the effect too but would't know how to recreate it frown.

I expect you had one or more filters on the lens while at its widest setting?

You're effectively giving the camera the sort of view you'd have if you looked down through a telescope, or a bogroll tube or something...

Is that possible?
